The Department of Information and Communication Technology of the youngest technical university on Wednesday, 30th June launched its maiden edition of Academic Seminar Series under the theme “Quality Education and Career Advancement Amidst COVID-19: The Role of Technology and Innovation”.
Addressing the attendees at the launch, Mr. Rockson Kwasi Afriyie, the HoD, said the Seminar Series has been introduced to afford lecturers and students of the Department the opportunity to showcase their research works, applied project works, inventions and innovative works to the general public. According to him, the seminars would help to bridge the gap between academia and the IT industry since IT professionals are part of the Seminar Series. He therefore, charged the students and staff to avail themselves of the opportunity and participate fully in all the seminars.
Meanwhile, a lecturer at the Department, Mr. Ismail Zakaria (Alhaji) presenting on the theme “Quality Education and Career Advancement Amidst COVID-19: The Role of Technology and Innovation”, cited some courses run by the Department which position the students to fully tap into the country’s digitisation agenda. He urged them to shift focus from grade to trade and seriously explore how they can take advantage of the opportunities created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some final year students of the Department did presentation on their project works.
Present at the launch were Dr. Ernest Ganaa and Mr. Antwi Kwasi Danso both lecturers of the Department, and Mr. Gilbert Bedzrah, the Director of ICT at the University.
