Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr known  as Stormzy was born and raised in south London by his Ghanaian mom and two sisters. He’s been making videos on his YouTube channel since 2011 but it wasn’t until he started sharing his Wicked Skengman freestyles that he begun attracting much wider attention and plaudits.

His freestyle Shut Up got over 70 million views and is the only freestyle to top the U.k chats. He released his debut album Gang sings and prayer in February 2017 which exceeded the high expectation people had for it.The album topped the chat upon its release making it the first grime album to ever do so.

Stormzy wins Best British Male Solo Artist award at the 2018 Brit awards
Its was therefore no suprise when the nominations for the British entertainment awards came out and he bagged nominations in the two top categories . Best British Male Solo Artist and Best album . It was however  a bit of a surprise when he won , as he was nominated against vocal dance music hater Liam Gallagher and Ed Sheeran a pop favorite , J hus ,Dua lipa, Loyle Carner and Rag’n’Bon .
The win marks Stormzy’s very first Brit award. He thanked God and his family for the award in his acceptance speech and closed the award show by delivering  a very powerful performance criticizing the British Prime minister over her and her governments handling of grenfell  disaster and black pride.

.@Stormzy1 won two   awards tonight. Here is his absolutely chilling performance. So fucking moving.
